About ANt Electric, suffolk and london Electrician

Ant developed an interest in how things work at a young age and especially enjoyed Craft, Design & Technology and Electronics at school, which both relate to aspects of 'Electrician' work he began as a career in 2003.

Great Portland Street Hotel (London), 1999 is where Ant started working in Maintenance industry as the Maintenance Manager, overseeing outside contractors and managing staff.

2001-3 was spent working in property refurbishment across London, while studying 16th Edition Electrican qualification at evening class in Walthamstow College.

In 2003 Ant started career as an Electrician working as sub contractor for other Electricians, renovation companies, small businesses and landlords. Learning about circuit design, cable sizing, installation methods and beginning of the non stop learning experience that is fault finding.

Selecting suitable parts also an ongoing learning experience as products, technology and manufactures change and evolve.

Electrical work has been based on City and Guilds '2330' principles and BS: 7671 regulations, and the Inspect & Test 2391 qualification, combined with Good Practice Guidance , the latter being really important and constantly evolving.

The '16,17 and now 18th Edition'  demonstrates competency with regard to interpreting and applying the 600+ page of regulations written into British Standard:7671, and by default other standards, such as aspects of  Health and Safety at work Act 1974. Its also a refence point for cable sizing and Circuit Breaker data, both crucial info.

The 1st Edition of BS;7671 (now on 18th) was published in 1882, concerning safety of lighting. As a side note, ironic as 100 years later, in the late 1990's, producers started selling halogen downlights in the UK with no fire rating (open backed), which are massive and obvious fire risk, if fitted in the typical UK home with wooden floor/ceiling joists and/or lath and plaster ceilings, which has now been covered by regulations and Good Practice Guides, although these particularly unsafe lights still out there

2011 Ant qualified in the more tricky '2391' Inspection and Testing,  allowing approved processes for completing electrical reports (EICR's), with over 1,000 completed to date and proud to of resolved countless safety issues on the way.

The electrical work over 20 years has also helped Ant understand the  structures of many different building types (houses of different centuries/decades, as well as 'new builds') notably regarding fire ratings and sound proofing, very pertinent with cladding / fire risk issue across UK. Advice on such matters is also available, as Ant has observed many issues in this area and is familiar with the problems/ solutions.

Ant also has worked with some of the best carpenters, plumbers and painters over the years and can do small Project Management of property refurbishments, saving customers time and money.

Being passionate about the environment also, including noise and light pollution, Ant like's to treat waste following government guidelines OR better, if possible, by separating out waste and processing correctly. On a connected note, recycling,  a BBC story about recycling wood and a 90 year old chap who built a                   Hobbit Home ( click here)

some feedback

Tottenham

Ant is an excellent electrician who was very helpful when I renovated  part of my house. It also involved installing armoured cable, and he was able to advise on capacity and routing, taking into account my needs and concerns.
At a different time I had a lighting circuit failure which he was able to diagnose rapidly and then find and repair a tricky electrical problem quickly and efficiently.

I highly recommend him.

Norwood

Ant has done several big jobs for us since we bought our flat. He has always been reliable and thorough. He took the time to find out exactly what we needed/ wanted, talked us through options/ costs and explained exactly what the work would involve. Highly recommended.

Orpington

We were very happy with Ant Electric's work for a house we just bought. This included checking electrical connections, completing an electrical report, wiring and general maintenance and renovation of appliances. Everything was done to a very high standard, and is working extremely well. We were especially impressed with the efficiency and working within time limits.
